Giovanni Mirabassi Power Trio

On April 8, 2026 at the Sunset Sunside, Giovanni Mirabassi presents his Power Trio. Born in Perugia and based in France since the 1990s, he has developed a style in which classical training meets a contemporary jazz attentive to melody. In the trio setting, his clear, lyrical piano rests on a close dialogue with double bass and drums: finely wrought themes, breathing, deliberate silences and rhythmic surges that propel the musical narrative without excess.

The repertoire moves between selected standards, original compositions and reinterpretations of songs, reflecting a taste for popular—and sometimes politically engaged—melodies that runs through his discography, from Avanti! to The Swan and the Storm, via Live & Kicking and New York Sessions Vol.1. Comfortable in both solo and trio formats, Mirabassi favors mutual listening, precise articulation and a collective dynamic that leaves room for motifs, ostinatos and singing lines. The set is conceived to explore the trio form in all its flexibility, balancing harmonic equilibrium, rhythmic interaction and a sense of song.
