Birds on a Wire

On May 30, 2026, Birds on a Wire takes the stage at La Comète - Scène Nationale de Châlons-en-Champagne, in Châlons-en-Champagne. Born from the meeting of Rosemary Standley (Moriarty), a Franco‑American singer, and the Brazilian cellist and vocalist Dom La Nena, the duo shapes a repertoire of covers for voice and cello. Baroque, chanson, pop and traditional tunes intersect, reworked into spare arrangements that allow languages and eras to mingle. On stage, Rosemary’s timbre blends with Dom’s cello, with her harmonies and subtle loops; a close interplay in which pizzicato strokes, bowed lines and breaths sketch the songs’ framework, in French, English and Portuguese.

The programme draws on Ramages (2020) and Nuées Ardentes (2025), an album focused on adolescence, with echoes of Bronski Beat, The Cure, The Doors, Barbara and Stefano Landi. Between vocal writing and acoustic arrangements, Birds on a Wire traces a line at the crossroads of French chanson and chamber folk, making familiar titles resonate alongside older pages. A duo format that privileges the essential: the meeting of two voices, a cello and a reimagined repertoire.
