DJ Krush

On 12 October 2026 at La Machine du Moulin Rouge in Paris, DJ Krush, a key figure in instrumental hip‑hop from Tokyo, returns with a set focused on his new productions. As a teenager, Hideaki Ishi discovered Wild Style, immersed himself in hip‑hop culture, joined breakdance crews and founded Krush Posse before launching a solo career in the early 1990s. Since Krush in 1994 and Strictly Turntablized on Mo’Wax, he has developed a signature sound of slow rhythms, velvety basslines and dub‑ and ambient‑tinged atmospheres, nourished by jazz and soul and looking to figures like Miles Davis and James Brown. At the turntables he treats the record player as a full instrument, sculpting textures and silences rather than piling on effects. His trajectory alternates between albums and collaborations — from Butterfly Effect to Kiseki, Cosmic Yard and Trickster — and then Saisei in 2024, which opened a new independent chapter. On stage he unfolds this chiaroscuro sound and will present tracks from his album released in summer 2026, ranging from meticulously crafted beats and lush, enveloping layers to precise scratches.
