On January 28, 2027 at L’Auditorium in Grenoble, Olivier de Benoist presents Le Droit au bonheur. The comedian tackles a question that seems simple at first: how to be happy. His line of inquiry goes through the family, that unpredictable laboratory where he scrutinizes marriage, fatherhood and the routines that eventually go off the rails. True to his persona as an overwhelmed husband, he pleads his case with a willful disingenuousness and sums up his theory in a house maxim: to be happy, live quietly… and preferably far from your wife and children.

Co-written with Paul-Marie Debrie and Jérôme Daran, the show strings together arguments, anecdotes and the small domestic skirmishes of everyday life, oscillating between confessions and evasions. Olivier de Benoist plays the pseudo-macho, slips on a veneer of lawyerly authority and uses contrarian turns to illuminate the blind spots of family life. Without rancor or pathos, he moves briskly, turns an argument into a case study and flips his own contradictions inside out to lay them bare. It’s a quest for happiness viewed from the living room, carried by briskly paced writing and precise delivery.
