Califone

On May 23, 2026, at Casa Montjuïc in Barcelona, Califone takes the stage with its blend of understated electronics and acoustic woodiness. The project led by Tim Rutili—born out of the Red Red Meat venture and active since 1998—has refined its own language across more than a dozen records: a tension between noise and silence, organic instruments and technology, melodies that emerge through the cracks, and a distinctly human pulse that holds it all together.

In concert, the band works with cinematic imagery and a poetry of detail, shaping a deconstructed folk that reconfigures itself each time. Layers of guitars and slides, minimal percussion, granular textures, and small imperfections turned into rhythm paint a landscape that is both fragile and rough. Califone typically revisits its catalogue without nostalgia, weaving old and new pieces into patient transitions, leaving room for drift and surprise, and producing a sound that breathes more than it shines.
