James Leg

Son of a Texas pastor, James Leg grew up among hymns and gospel choirs in the Deep South. He wanted to follow the family example, but chose to preach his own way from a Fender Rhodes: straight-up blues, a rough voice and a pulse that smells of the open road. His sound is gritty and earthy, with a groove that sticks and propels the body without frills.

As a solo act, he blends ’70s boogie, weathered soul and Southern blues, with echoes of garage and a preacher’s rhythm that turns each song into call-and-response. Piano and organ take the lead, laying down dense riffs, roaring chords and rhythmic lines that move forward with purpose, somewhere between rock tension and rhythm-and-blues roots.

On March 22, 2026, at Dabadaba in Donostia / San Sebastián, James Leg presents a physical, no-nonsense live show: accelerating boogie, razor-sharp rock’n’roll and ballads with contained melancholy. A repertoire where the raspy voice defines the character and the Rhodes guides the journey — from the club’s sweat to the cadence of the South, made for dancing and letting go.
