Info
Celtas Cortos arrive at Sala Pelícano in A Coruña on April 11, 2026 with “40 años Contando Cuentos,” a stop that reviews their entire career. Formed in Valladolid in the mid-1980s, the group established a distinctive blend of Celtic-rooted folk and Spanish-language rock: violin, flutes and wind instruments conversing with electric guitars and a direct, driving rhythm section. From the instrumental repertoire of Salida de emergencia (1989) they moved on to songs led by Jesús Cifuentes’s voice, with lyrics that alternate between social commentary, popular imagery and more intimate themes.
Albums such as Gente impresentable (1990), Cuéntame un cuento (1991), Tranquilo majete (1993) and En estos días inciertos (1996) fixed a recognizable sound, with violin and flute melodies at the forefront and nods to ska and reggae. After lineup changes and new phases, releases like Tiendo a complicarme la vida (2003) and Introversiones (2010) expanded their palette. Live, Celtas Cortos still conceive the concert as a two-way exchange with the audience, and this anniversary proposes a journey through the band’s different phases, alternating instrumental passages and songs that have accompanied several generations.
