John Hiatt

John Hiatt plays AB&B - Amager Bio in Copenhagen on 26 June 2026. A songwriter who moves easily between rock, folk, country and rhythm and blues, Hiatt started out in the 1970s writing for others before releasing his own records. Early albums like Hangin’ Around the Observatory and Overcoats set the tone; Bring the Family and Slow Turning in the late 80s pushed him toward a leaner roots rock sound. The 90s brought Stolen Moments, Perfectly Good Guitar and Walk On, mixing solo intimacy with denser electric bands. From Crossing Muddy Waters onward, he often returned to acoustic textures, and in 2021 he recorded Leftover Feelings with The Jerry Douglas Band.

On stage, Hiatt keeps the focus on songs: narrative writing, clear melodies and a slightly roughed-up voice that shifts from country-leaning ballads to mid-tempo rock and blues shades. His catalog has been widely covered, proof of material that travels well across genres. In Copenhagen he draws from decades of work, linking early cuts to recent collaborations for a set that traces the arc of his Americana sound.
