Suzan & Freek

On 1 August 2026 Suzan & Freek will perform at Caprera in Bloemendaal. The Dutch duo — singer/keyboardist Suzan Stortelder and guitarist/singer Freek Rikkerink — hail from the Achterhoek and write pop songs rooted in acoustic instrumentation and tight vocal harmonies. They first drew attention in the mid-2010s with short, reworked covers posted online; from 2018 their focus shifted to original material in Dutch. The single "Als het avond is" set the tone: close, melodic and everyday, without affectation. Debut album Gedeeld door ons (2019) and its follow-up Dagen van goud (2022) built on that, with stories about relationships and recognizable moments from daily life.

Live they keep things close to the core: two voices, guitar, piano, and a band that leaves room for dynamics. Intimate ballads sit alongside mid-tempo pop songs that slowly unfold, unadorned and with attention to lyrics and melody. Along the way they collaborated with contemporaries like Snelle, but their identity remains clear and Dutch-language. At Caprera it’s about the songs and the chemistry between Suzan and Freek — compact, melodic and exactly where they belong.
