Begonia, the moniker of Winnipeg singer and songwriter Alexa Dirks, brings her soulful, alt-pop blend to Broom Factory in Kingston on October 2, 2026. Since launching her solo project in 2017 with the EP “Lady in Mind” and its standout track “Juniper,” she’s shaped a sound built around voice, candid lyrics and lush harmonies, moving between intimate ballads and more rhythm-driven cuts. Her debut album “Fear” (2019) and “Powder Blue” (2023) cemented that palette with synth textures and choral layers, earning two JUNO Award nominations and two Polaris Music Prize nods along the way. She followed with the three-song EP “Open Swim” (2024), and her latest full-length “Fantasy Life” arrived in 2025, expanding her mix of pop, soul and R&B with a contemporary sheen. On stage, Begonia leans into dynamic vocals and detailed arrangements, building sets that ebb from slow-burn confessionals to big, melodic releases.
