Joep Beving - Liminal Tour 2026

On May 28, 2026 Joep Beving performs at PHIL in Haarlem with his Liminal Tour 2026. The Amsterdam-based pianist and composer moves between neoclassical, minimalism and ambient. Since his home-recorded debut Solipsism (2015), his work has grown steadily with Prehension, Henosis and Hermetism, now released on Deutsche Grammophon. His pieces are built on slow, repeated motifs and clear harmonies, played with a gentle touch in which silence and reverberation also resonate.

In concert, Beving pursues the intensity of listening: few frills, ample space for melody and timing. The music breathes, pauses acquire weight, and the piano idiom stays close to its core. His concerts often bring together different periods from his repertoire, so you can clearly hear the development in his compositional style, from intimate and close to more spacious and darkly hued. Visuals and lighting are used sparingly to support the soundscape without overshadowing the music.
