On 24 April 2026 Monkeys On Mars lands at Patronaat in Haarlem: a double bill featuring the Swiss instrumentalists Monkey3 and the French trio Mars Red Sky.
Active since the early 2000s in Lausanne, Monkey3 moves between stoner, psych and space rock. The quartet constructs long, expansive compositions: heavy, pulsing riffs, repetitive patterns and wide-ranging textures, with keyboards that give the music a cosmic edge. Live they emphasize an immersive flow with pronounced dynamics and visuals; songs grow organically from trance to eruption without abandoning melody.
Mars Red Sky comes from Bordeaux and offers a heavy yet dreamlike variant of stoner. Slow grooves, compact rhythms and massive guitars are counterpointed by clear vocal lines, creating a distinctive contrast and a melodic layer. Situated between seventies heritage, doom undertones and indie influences, the trio shifts from short hooks to longer, cinematic passages, always with a keen sense of atmosphere and tension.
Together Monkey3 and Mars Red Sky bring an evening where instrumental trips and melodic heavy psych intersect, balancing heft with buoyancy.
