Tim Knol & The Wandering Hearts

On 4 October 2026 Tim Knol will perform with The Wandering Hearts at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen. Born in 1989 in Hoorn, Knol has steadily carved out a place for himself between folk, pop and Americana, with an ear for the song tradition of the 1960s and 1970s. After early steps with Be Right Back he chose a solo path in the late 2000s, signed to Excelsior Recordings and drew attention at Noorderslag in 2010. His debut, Tim Knol (2010), set the tone with acoustic ballads and melodic folk-rock, followed by Days (2011) and Soldier On (2013). After a period of extensive touring and side projects he sharpened his songwriting on Cut the Wire (2018), and continued in that vein with Happy Hour (2020) and Lightyears Better (2022): more restrained, more direct, with room for detail.

Live, Knol’s focus is voice, guitar and compact arrangements: songs that stand on their own without adornment, sometimes with a band, sometimes in a more intimate lineup. The Wandering Hearts share the bill and bring their own color to this double bill, for an evening where the song is central and the warmth of acoustic instruments sets the mood.
