Francis Rossi

On 20 April 2026 Francis Rossi will appear at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen. The British guitarist and singer, co‑founder and cornerstone of Status Quo, built his sound on tight boogie guitar work, blues‑rock energy and melodies that come alive on stage. As the band’s principal songwriter, often in partnership with Bob Young, he put his signature to songs such as Pictures of Matchstick Men, Down Down and Whatever You Want—songs that generations have come to know on club stages, festival fields and even at the opening of Live Aid in 1985.

Rossi has continued to evolve. With his solo album One Step at a Time he explored a more melodic, personal side without losing his rock bearings, and with the Aquostic projects he demonstrated how those songs hold up in a stripped‑down form. His shows balance a sense of playfulness with craftsmanship: familiar riffs, tight grooves and room for stories from half a century on the road. In Groningen that history will feel close, carried by the voice and guitar of the man who has lived it all.
