On 29 May 2026 Plini and Sungazer arrive at Patronaat in Haarlem for a double bill entirely dedicated to instrumental imagination and rhythmic finesse.
Plini, the guitarist and composer from Sydney, brings his band for a set that moves between progressive rock/metal, jazz fusion and more atmospheric passages. His music centers on melodic themes, dynamic contrasts and irregular time signatures, with guitar lines that continually elicit harmonic responses. Expect pieces from Handmade Cities, Sunhead, Impulse Voices and the recent Mirage, reworked live with tight arrangements, interplay between lead and texture, and precisely the openness that translates his studio ideas to the stage.
Sungazer is the New York duo of bassist Adam Neely and drummer Shawn Crowder. Their blend of electronica, jazz and prog builds on asymmetrical grooves, drum’n’bass energy and modern harmonies. On Perihelion (2021) they established their palette; on stage they reconfigure those tracks using a combination of sequencers, synths, melodic bass and detailed drumming. The set plays with form and pulse, switches between tightly written passages and brief improvisations, and maintains tension through its dynamics.
