Lucky Fonz III

On 27 March 2026 Lucky Fonz III will play at Metropool in Enschede. Nijmegen-born singer-songwriter Otto Wichers has been building a repertoire since the mid-2000s that moves fluidly between folk, pop and the Dutch song tradition. His early, English-language albums — Lucky Fonz III (2005), Life Is Short (2007) and A Family Like Yours (2009) — breathe spare indie folk and small, personal stories. With Hoe je honderd wordt zonder dat je het merkt (2010) he opted fully for Dutch, which made his narrative style even more immediate.

On stage he blends songs with brief patter and a dry sense of humour. In je nakie (2013), Hemellichamen (2016) and Multimens (2019) mark a more open pop sound, with echoes of cabaret and a touch of Americana; live, that shift is reflected in the dynamics and structure. Expect compact songs, melodic choruses and lyrics that observe rather than magnify. An evening centered on the song, intimate with the audience and with room for a digression or an occasional joke.
