On April 17, 2026, The OBGMs take over Lee’s Palace in Toronto. Formed in the city in the early 2010s, the trio — Densil McFarlane (voice, guitar), Colanthony Humphrey (drums) and Joseph Brosnan (bass) — drives a direct, high-tempo rock that pulls from punk, garage and indie, with vocal cadences that sometimes nod to hip-hop. Their self-titled debut (2017) lined up short, taut cuts; The Ends (2020) pushed heavier riffs and a tighter rhythmic thrust. On stage, abrasive guitars and chanted hooks keep the tension up without overloading the mix.
Brendan Philip brings an experimental R&B palette where soul harmonies, psych hues and electronic textures orbit a centered voice. Winner of the Harbourfront Soundclash Award in 2013, he set his tone on a self-titled release in 2015 and has since multiplied collaborations, from the house-rap tilt of Come Over with Keita Juma to atmospheric tracks like Life After Death. His slow-burn approach tilts the night toward introspection without losing pulse.
The Effens round out the bill, adding their touch to a lineup built on contrast and forward motion.
