Crocodiles, a Californian duo formed by Charles Rowell and Brandon Welchez, has been crafting since 2009 a sound where twisted guitars, heavy distortion and washes of reverb rub up against melodic pop. Straddling shoegaze, noise-pop and garage bursts, the band channels the energy of the ’90s while retaining a taste for sticky, memorable choruses. Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine influences are never far, but Crocodiles carve their own line—raw and direct.
After a long hiatus, the band reunited in 2021 at the Quiksilver studios in Saint-Jean-de-Luz to record Upside Down In Heaven with Maxime Smadja producing, supported by Atef Aouadhi (bass) and Diego Dal Bon (drums). The record effortlessly shifts from punk-pop to fuzz-pop, crosses into mutant garage and includes tracks meant to rattle the dancefloor, with songs like "Love Beyond The Grave," "Surfing With Death" and "Deadbeat." On stage, the set runs straight, alternating noisy build-ups and immediate melodies. Opening act Year Of The Dog completes the bill. See you on 9 July 2026 at Point Éphémère, Paris.
