Info

Maruja bring their tense, jazz-scorched post-punk to Hole⁴⁴ in Berlin on 7 April 2026. Formed in Manchester, the band builds long, physical crescendos where heavy bass and wiry guitar lock to propulsive drums, while Joe Carroll’s sax moves from grained motifs to freer flights. Up front, lyricist, rapper and singer Harry Wilkinson shifts between spoken cadence and a more open vocal line, threading themes of pressure, solidarity and love into something collective on stage.

The set leans into Pain to Power: the bite of Bloodsport and the BBC 6 Music A‑listed Look Down On Us loosens the screws, before the mood folds into the meditative pull of Zaytoun and a patient closer like Reconcile, growing around sax and voice. Maruja’s live arc mirrors their writing: anger channeled into focus, noise into space, with room for improvisation and a volume that keeps the body engaged. No theatrics, just a tight unit pushing tension until it breaks into release.
