Badlands Music Festival with Above & Beyond

On July 9, 2026, Above & Beyond bring their melodic trance and progressive house to the Badlands Tent in Calgary. Formed in London by Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki, the trio first made waves with remixes and aliases before defining their sound on Tri-State, then pushing song-forward structures on Group Therapy and We Are All We Need. Common Ground broadened the palette, while Flow State explored a quieter, ambient side. Along the way, the Acoustic projects reframed their tracks in a different light, and the OceanLab collaborations with Justine Suissa kept the vocal thread at the core of their writing.

On stage, the group moves fluidly across this catalog: atmospheric intros, patient builds, clear melodic lines and vocal hooks that anchor the drops. As cofounders of Anjunabeats and the Anjunadeep offshoot, they connect high-energy trance with deeper textures, a balance they continue to refine through releases, radio shows and touring. The set in Calgary draws on those contrasts, from early progressive cuts to later, more introspective pieces, mapping a trajectory where club euphoria, pop-leaning songwriting and spacious electronics meet in the same flow.
