Megadeth and Anthrax bring a full-throttle slice of US thrash to Rogers Place, Edmonton, on February 22, 2026. Founded in Los Angeles in 1983 by guitarist-singer Dave Mustaine with bassist David Ellefson, Megadeth carved a sound at the crossroads of thrash, speed and heavy metal, built on tight, rapid-fire riffs, intricate structures and lyrics that tackle politics, war, religion or social alienation. From Killing Is My Business… and Peace Sells to Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction, then Youthanasia’s more melodic turn and later chapters like The System Has Failed, Endgame, Dystopia and The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!, their catalog traces four decades of sharp writing and hard touring.
Formed in New York in 1981 around guitarist Scott Ian, Anthrax stands alongside Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth in the Big Four. Their approach blends hardcore punch and classic metal precision, with chant-ready hooks and cutting riffs. Milestones include Fistful of Metal, Spreading the Disease and Among the Living, a 90s detour with Sound of White Noise and Stomp 442, the crossover with Public Enemy on Bring the Noise, then a return to thrash on Worship Music and For All Kings. Together, they set up a night anchored in cornerstone tracks and newer cuts that shaped the genre.
