Yin Yin

YĪN YĪN come to Hamburg: On 3 March 2026 the Dutch-Thai psych-funk band will play at the Knust. Founded by the duo Kees Berkers and Yves Lennertz and augmented live by additional musicians, the group has moved confidently between psych, global groove and hybrid club sounds since their first recordings made outside conventional studios. Their debut The Rabbit That Hunts Tigers (2019) lays the foundation: rolling, repetitive basslines, melodic guitars and motifs from Thai pop music, all designed for dancing and for the long haul. With The Age of Aquarius (2022), keyboards and synthetic textures move further into focus without abandoning the collective live approach.

On stage YĪN YĪN rely on development rather than formula: songs are stretched, grooves orbit, and details emerge from the flow. The sound stays physical and direct, leaving space for spontaneous turns between funk, psych and Southeast Asian influences. A set that expands the studio ideas and is rooted in a shared pulse. At the Knust the band distills their blend into a concentrated live experience that shows how influences can become a singular, distinct sound.
