Info
On 7 May 2026 at the Gruenspan in Hamburg, Australian guitarist and composer Plini will bring his instrumental project to the stage. Since the early 2010s he has been crafting intricately melodic pieces with progressive structures—bordering rock and metal, with influences from jazz fusion and tranquil ambient passages. Characteristic are subtly graduated dynamics and odd meters. His path runs from early DIY EPs like Other Things, Sweet Nothings and The End of Everything to Handmade Cities, the EP Sunhead, the album Impulse Voices and most recently Mirage. Live, Plini performs with a band, expanding the studio tracks into a more open format, relying on dialogues between lead guitars and dense harmonies and allowing the music to breathe.
Sungazer, the New York duo of bassist Adam Neely and drummer Shawn Crowder, blends jazz culture, electronic textures and prog-leaning energy. Unusual time signatures, drum’n’bass-influenced grooves and modern harmonic language structure the tracks, which alternate between precisely written passages and compact improvisations. After singles and EPs, Perihelion (2021) crystallized their approach; on stage forms are reframed and the dynamics precisely articulated. In Hamburg, Sungazer provide the complement: melodic bass lines, detailed drumming and electronics that carry the space.
