GoGo Penguin - Tour 2026

On 21 April 2026 GoGo Penguin will perform at the Kesselhaus in the Kulturbrauerei in Berlin. The Manchester trio — Chris Illingworth on piano, Nick Blacka on double bass and Jon Scott on drums — has been blending acoustic piano jazz with influences from electronics and minimalism since the late 2000s. Characteristic elements include repeated motifs, melodic basslines and fractured beats that connect as readily to contemporary jazz as to trip-hop, breakbeat, film music and club aesthetics. Live, they consistently render this vocabulary acoustically: finely calibrated dynamics, densely interlocked patterns and an interplay that shifts between driving pulses and quiet moments.

Their set draws on a wide repertoire — from Fanfares and v2.0 (Mercury Prize shortlist) through their Blue Note period with Man Made Object, A Humdrum Star and the self-titled GoGo Penguin, to the shorter-form works Ocean in a Drop and Between Two Waves, as well as the most recent Everything Is Going to Be OK. On stage they distill this development into a concentrated live experience focused on sound, timing and the subtle shifts from which their tension arises.
