Info
On 13 May 2026 at the Technikum in Munich, instrumental prog meets electronic fusion with two acts that consistently push their sonic language forward live.
Plini, a guitarist and composer from Sydney, has developed an instrumental solo project since the early 2010s that combines intricately detailed melodies with progressive structures. His pieces move between prog rock and prog metal, touches of jazz fusion and calm ambient hues, supported by finely balanced dynamics and odd meters. After early DIY EPs (Other Things, Sweet Nothings, The End of Everything), the 2016 album Handmade Cities was released, followed by Sunhead, Impulse Voices and most recently Mirage in 2023. Live, Plini performs with a band: precisely arranged themes meet open passages in which the lead guitar plays against dense harmonies and rhythmic shifts.
Sungazer, the New York duo made up of bassist Adam Neely and drummer Shawn Crowder, operates at the intersection of jazz fusion, electronic music and prog. Asymmetric time signatures, drum’n’bass-inspired grooves and harmonies drawn from modern jazz shape their approach. With the 2021 album Perihelion the duo sharpened their sonic palette of electronic textures, melodic basslines and detailed drumming. On stage they open up the studio versions, reconfigure structures and work precisely on dynamics and sound. Together with Plini, the evening in Munich presents two current perspectives on progressive, instrumentally driven music side by side.
