Anthrax

Anthrax, formed in New York in 1981 around Scott Ian, established itself in the first wave of American thrash metal. As one of the Big Four alongside Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth, the band built a fast, razor‑sharp sound in which precise riffs, energy inherited from hardcore punk and chant‑along choruses fit together with blunt force. Milestones such as Fistful of Metal, Spreading the Disease and Among the Living laid the groundwork; the collaboration “Bring the Noise” with Public Enemy opened a rap‑metal gateway in 1991, and Anthrax later reaffirmed its thrash streak on Worship Music and For All Kings. The alternating vocals of Joey Belladonna and John Bush over the years have shifted the emphasis without erasing the band’s DNA.

Anthrax will perform on 1 July 2026 at Le Rocher de Palmer in Cenon. The band will revisit more than four decades of songs drawn from a dense discography that is regularly played on the world’s major stages. Mastodon will appear as a special guest to complete the bill.
