Tune-Yards brings its shape-shifting pop to Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver on March 24, 2026. Led by Merrill Garbus with longtime collaborator Nate Brenner, the project grew from lo‑fi home recordings into a duo known for layered vocals, fractured rhythms and bass-forward arrangements. Across BiRd-BrAiNs, w h o k i l l, Nikki Nack, I can feel you creep into my private life and sketchy., Tune‑Yards blends indie sensibilities with R&B and percussion drawing from African and Caribbean traditions, with lyrics that engage identity and politics. On stage, Garbus builds loops in real time while Brenner anchors and twists the groove.
Guest Kassa Overall, a New York drummer, producer and rapper from Seattle, folds jazz, hip‑hop and electronics into one language. On Go Get Ice Cream and Listen to Jazz (2019), I Think I’m Good (2020) and Animals (2023), he threads acoustic drums through samples, synths and sung or spoken lines. His live approach fuses improvisation and beat craft, moving fluidly between club pulse and open‑ended jazz energy.
