Basement, from Ipswich, quickly developed their early emo sound. After the debut I Wish I Could Stay Here (2011), Colourmeinkindness (2012) pushed for more dynamics: partly written on the spot, recorded on the US West Coast, between jagged riffs and clear melodies. Influences from Sunny Day Real Estate meet a washed‑out ’90s alternative rock aesthetic à la Pixies, Silverchair or Catherine Wheel; Andrew Fisher’s vocals hold together the tension between hardness and retreat. With Further Sky, Promise Everything and Beside Myself the band expanded their range toward more direct, compact songs without cutting their roots in punk, grunge and emo. On 24 June 2026 Basement will perform at Dynamo Werk 21 in Zurich.
Supporting them are Fiddlehead. Emerging from Boston’s hardcore scene around Patrick Flynn and Shawn Costa, the band blends post‑hardcore, melodic punk and emo. From the EP debut Out of the Bloom (2014) through Springtime and Blind (2018) and Between the Richness (2021) to Death Is Nothing to Us (2023), Fiddlehead combine direct tempos, dense guitar tones and lyrics about memory, loss and solidarity — bringing palpable energy and melody.
