Mathieu Boogaerts

On 20 March 2026 Mathieu Boogaerts will perform at the Ferme du Biéreau, Avenue du Jardin Botanique, 1348 Ottignies‑Louvain‑la‑Neuve, Belgium. The French singer‑songwriter has been building a spare, rhythmic chanson‑pop since the mid‑90s in which every note matters: light grooves, sparse arrangements and lyrics that move smoothly with the voice. As a child he was given an organ, later taking up drums and bass; in the 1980s he formed his first bands and crossed paths with Matthieu Chedid. With his debut Ondulé (1995) he set his course, then played venues from Paris to Japan and published the book Je ne sais pas in 2010. In 2012 a namesake album was released featuring the track Je sais. Live, Boogaerts keeps close to the core: guitar, gentle percussion, small hooks and plenty of space for silence and timing. In Louvain‑la‑Neuve he will present songs that sway or surge, clear in melody and precise in wording, drawing on his entire repertoire, from early sketches to more recent work.
