Stella Cole revisits the vocal repertoire of the 1930s to 1960s with a naturalness that appeals as much to the curious as to jazz aficionados. An American singer first noticed online, she has crafted an artistic world in which the vocal line and clear diction take priority, set against measured tempos and a consciously retro aesthetic. On stage she favors an intimate format, between slow swing and ballads, with stripped-down arrangements that leave full room for the lyrics and the melody.
She draws on the Great American Songbook — Over the Rainbow, Moon River — alongside more contemporary nods, such as Billie Eilish’s “My Future.” From Barbra Streisand to Judy Garland, via Audrey Hepburn and the crooners, she navigates with ease, choosing nuance over showmanship.
