On March 20, 2026, Grey Eagle in Calgary welcomes Black Label Society, the heavy outfit led by guitarist and singer Zakk Wylde. Formed in Los Angeles in 1998, the band runs on massive riffs, mid-tempo grooves and stretched solos, with rough yet melodic vocals. Around Wylde’s songwriting and tone, the lineup shifts but often includes longtime bassist John DeServio, keeping the quartet format tight and direct. From Sonic Brew to The Blessed Hellride, Mafia or Doom Crew Inc., Black Label Society mixes hard rock roots, a southern tint and electric ballads that cut through on stage.
Also on the bill: Zakk Sabbath, Wylde’s power-trio tribute to the early years of Black Sabbath. Focused on the first albums, the project leans into doom, blues and hard rock foundations, played live and unvarnished. In 2020, the band released Vertigo, a full front-to-back re-creation of Sabbath’s debut, keeping the spirit and order intact. Across the evening, tempos shift from brisk to slow-burn, with darker atmospheres and near-acoustic passages linking classic metal influences to a modern guitar punch.
