British singer and songwriter Samm Henshaw brings his It Could Be Worse tour to The Mod Club in Toronto on February 28, 2026. Born in London to Nigerian parents and shaped by church music, Henshaw blends retro soul, gospel and contemporary R&B, building songs around organic grooves, choir-style refrains and direct, unvarnished lyrics.
He first emerged with The Sound Experiment EPs (2015, 2016), then widened his reach through singles and collaborations including Doubt with Wretch 32 and Church with EarthGang. His debut album Untidy Soul (2022) pushed that blend further with live arrangements and storytelling grounded in everyday relationships, doubt and faith.
On stage, Henshaw leans on a tight band, stacked harmonies and call-and-response energy, weaving new material with cuts from Untidy Soul. A set shaped by gospel-inflected hooks and warm instrumentation, delivered with an intimate, communal feel at 722 College Street, Toronto.
