Info
Philadelphia band Nothing brings its dense, melodic shoegaze to The Opera House in Toronto on March 30, 2026. Formed in 2010 around singer-guitarist Domenic “Nicky” Palermo, the group grew out of the local hardcore scene and carved a sound that leans on saturated guitars, vocals set back in the mix and a taste for melancholy. The balance sits somewhere between 90s shoegaze, alternative rock and slowcore, with a constant pull between weight and haze.
After the early EP Downward Years to Come (2012), Nothing released Guilty of Everything (2014), Tired of Tomorrow (2016) and Dance on the Blacktop (2018), records that set their place on independent circuits in North America and Europe. The Great Dismal (2020) sharpened contrasts between noise-laced swells and more stripped passages, followed by The Great Dismal B-Sides (2021). Regularly linked to metal and punk circles, the band also explored collaboration with When No Birds Sang, made with Full of Hell in 2023. On stage, Nothing works that blurred line between heavy rock, dream pop and noise.
