Colin James brings his Little Big Band back to Vancouver for a night rooted in swing and jump blues. Since breaking out on the Canadian blues scene in the late 80s, the Regina-born guitarist and singer has moved with ease between electric blues-rock lineups and more intimate, roots projects. After early tours opening for Stevie Ray Vaughan, he released a self-titled debut in 1988 and Sudden Stop in 1990, then kicked off a horn-driven chapter with Colin James and the Little Big Band in 1993. That path continued across several volumes while he explored acoustic territory on National Steel, and broadened his songbook with Traveler, Limelight, Blue Highways and Open Road. On stage, the Little Big Band setup puts brass up front, tight rhythms underfoot and a repertoire that blends jump-blues staples, vintage swing and his own cuts.
