Styx & Chicago: The Windy Cities Tour brings two Chicago-born bands to Toronto on July 28, 2026 at RBC Amphitheatre, 909 Lake Shore Boulevard West. The show is rain or shine.
Chicago emerged in 1967 with a rock sound powered by a brass section, blending jazz-rock, R&B, pop and contemporary touches. Early albums stretched out in suites before a turn toward a more pop-minded approach in the 1980s, with ballads and radio cuts alongside their horn-led identity. The lineup has evolved but the conversation between voices, keyboards, guitar and horns remains central. Their long run on stage and in the studio has been marked by a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2016 and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020, with recent work including Born for This Moment in 2022.
Styx formed in the early 1970s and mixes progressive structures, hard rock energy and a taste for theatrical narratives. Built on tight vocal harmonies, melodic keyboards and guitars shaped for big rooms, the band moved from proggy beginnings to accessible rock with The Grand Illusion, Pieces of Eight and Cornerstone, then explored concept storytelling on Paradise Theatre and Kilroy Was Here. Later releases like The Mission and Crash of the Crown extend that blend on stage today.
