Imarhan

In three albums, Imarhan has become one of the faces of the new Tuareg generation. The band from southern Algeria draws on Assouf, that desert blues which tells of the daily life of Kel Tamashek youth, between the vastness of the dunes and city life. The lyrics, carried by an understated writing style, move between memory, movement and rootedness.

Imarhan’s sound blends delicate guitars, supple bass lines and dry, crisp percussion. You can hear both Tuareg roots, echoes of sub‑Saharan African ballads and the pop‑rock imprint absorbed while growing up, in Algeria as well as in the West. This hybridization keeps the sand beneath their feet while opening up to more electric, direct and melodic arrangements.

With Essam, their new album released on 6 February 2026 on City Slang, Imarhan continues this weaving of tradition and the present, with Tamasheq vocals and hypnotic grooves at the fore. The band will present these new tracks on 26 April 2026 at Le Ferrailleur in Nantes.
