Julien Clerc

Since 1968 and La Cavalerie, Julien Clerc has been carving out his path in French song, between mainstream French variety and pop, with melodies that stay in the mind and lyrics that reflect their era. Over the years his songs have accompanied several generations — from “Ce n’est rien” to “Si on chantait,” including “Ma préférence.” On stage he draws from this broad repertoire and moves through its different periods, carried by an instantly recognizable voice and an interpretive sense that puts the songs first and foremost.

On 2 July 2026 he will take the stage at the Théâtre Antique in Vaison-la-Romaine. It will be an opportunity to revisit familiar choruses, from ballads to more rhythm-driven numbers, and to appreciate the arc of a career that began in the late sixties. Julien Clerc revisits his classics, slips in tracks that have marked his albums, and gathers an audience that knows the lyrics as well as the arrangements. A concert that unfolds the history of French song through one of its most identifiable repertoires, in a setting that highlights the closeness between the artist and his songs.
