On 6 November 2026, La Cigale Paris welcomes daoud, a French-Moroccan trumpeter, producer and composer who delights in subverting the conventions of jazz. His music moves forward carried by a deliberate sense of not belonging, with a constant tension between playfulness and gravity, chaos and gentleness, irony and sincerity. With ok, his album released on ACT in 2025, he refines a compositional language of motif and repetition, where falling and restarting trace a stubborn, clear line.

Around sound, daoud shapes a raw visual universe. Provocation sits alongside a very youthful letting-go, like a return to childhood not to find reassurance but to bring contradictions to the surface. Fragility, impermanence, satire: the aesthetic embraces the flaw instead of hiding it.

On stage, daoud and his band bend the rules without chasing effect, between restrained lyricism and detonation. He has been seen from Ronnie Scott’s in London to the Montreux Jazz Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival, milestones in a career that is asserting itself. At the same time, he composes and produces for others while continuing a personal practice that sharpens concert after concert.
