Mimaa, also known as Laury Perez, has made the stage her playground. As a teenager she devoured musical theatre and watched orchestras as closely as dancers, with role models like Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand in mind. At 17 she left Occitania for Paris and accumulated experiences that shaped her relationship to live performance: dancer on TV sets, stand‑in in The Wizard of Oz, and a voice on film soundtracks. This path nourishes a very physical approach to songcraft, balancing precision and instinct.

Her encounter six years ago with beatmaker El Speaker changed the way she composes. Together they found a direction that blends trap and pop with sounds rooted in her Spanish and Sicilian heritage. With “Gypsy,” her first noticed single, Mimaa builds a bridge between Iberian traditional music and the Romani culture of southern France. On 14 March 2026 at La Marquise in Lyon, she presented a set conceived for the stage, where the beats stick, the melodies are direct, and her voice asserts itself without artifice. A moment to grasp her signature: the melding of influences in service of a performer's presence.
