Keziah Jones

Born in Lagos, Keziah Jones has for more than thirty years shaped a language he calls blufunk, a fusion of raw blues, sharp funk and Yoruba pulses. Trained as a pianist who became a guitarist, he honed his playing in the streets of London and later in the Paris Métro. His percussive guitar, often played bare‑handed, establishes a syncopated groove where clipped riffs, struck bass lines and sung phrasings intertwine with fluidity. Between his Nigerian heritage and rock‑funk tension, his pieces favour rhythm and pulse, without artifice. He is behind Blufunk Is a Fact!, driven by the single “Rhythm Is Love,” as well as African Space Craft and Nigerian Wood, milestones that cemented this hybrid sound on record and on stage. On 18 April 2026 at L'Usine - Scenes Et Cines Istres, in Istres, he returns with that sonic signature: organic energy, slap guitar, tight breaks and clear vocals, for a set where his standout tracks meet more acoustic detours and improvised explorations.
