Info
Opus Kink, the British band formed in Brighton, lands on April 28, 2027 at Sala Upload in Barcelona with that blend of post-punk and a jazz-infused edge that lets them stray from the script. Live, they sound like a band in permanent mutation: brass upfront, a vocal style with a dry, almost declamatory phrasing, and songs that can swing from the raw punk tension to danceable rhythms, cabaret and music-hall nods, or slower, darker tangents, without sticking to the typical eighties revival. The trick lies in how they stretch the tracks and play with changing arrangements, between angular and theatrical, with a touch of controlled chaos. Their lyrics tend to move between violence, discomfort, the absurd, and power relations, with irony and a sharp edge. The Barcelona date also serves to bring them closer to their recent phase, with material that links the immediacy of the live impact with what they have been consolidating across EPs and albums.
