Info
Band on the Wall presents Leenalchi at Brudenell Social Club.
Leenalchi is a seven-piece alt-pop band from Seoul that blends pansori, a traditional Korean genre of musical storytelling, with a double-bass-driven rhythm section. The band has created a sound that is part 80s new wave and part deep-funk disco.
Most listeners will not be able to understand Leenalchi’s lyrics, and many Korean speakers will not either. Using uitaeeo, mimetic words that capture sensations and emotions, Leenalchi’s music moves beyond linguistic barriers.
With a vocal style defined by rhythmic chants and a groove-focused backbeat, Leenalchi transforms folk tradition into a high-energy show. It is storytelling reimagined for the 21st century: raw and rhythmic.
