On March 22, 2027, Hazlett checks into L’Alhambra in Paris for a concert that should foreground his indie-folk ballads with pop-inflected hues. Born in Brisbane and now based in Stockholm, the songwriter moves forward with intimate writing focused on doubt, nostalgia, and stories that fray or knit themselves back together. On stage, one finds what makes him charming: a foreground acoustic guitar, pared-down arrangements, a highly present voice, and just enough electronic textures to thicken the air without overdoing it.
After the EP Thundering Hopes, Hazlett broadened his palette with Bloom Mountain, released in 2023, by playing more with contrasts between soft, hushed atmospheres and brighter, more luminous bursts. In Paris, the occasion is perfect to let yourself be carried away by these melodic songs, which move in step with the emotion, with space between the notes and a chorus that lingers in the mind.
