Info
On January 31, 2027, Nubiyan Twist lands at Limelight in Belfast with its big, fluid collective energy. Born in Leeds in the early 2010s and led by composer and guitarist Tom Excell, the group moves like a small orchestra: tight arrangements, room for improvisation, and that constant push-and-pull between groove and jazz freedom.
Their sound sits right at the crossroads of contemporary jazz, afrobeat, soul and hip-hop, with a serious focus on brass, layered rhythms and voices that come in like extra instruments rather than simple hooks. Over the years, releases like Jungle Run and Freedom Fables have shaped their identity: afro grooves, sharp horn lines, soulful songwriting, and collaborations that opened their palette even wider. Expect a set that treats the stage like a living session, switching textures and momentum without losing the pulse.
