Within the 30th edition of the Villes des musiques du monde festival, El León Pardo y los Gaiteros de Punta Icaco and Indus are in concert at Mains d’Œuvres.
From Cartagena to Bogotá, the musical essence of Colombia is celebrated tonight. Led by the singer, trumpeter and gaita (reed-pipe) player Jorge Emilio Pardo Vasquez, El León Pardo y los Gaiteros de Punta Icaco is an electric sextet that outfits the Caribbean traditions of their country in contemporary fabrics.
The Indus duo fuses Franklin Tejedor's ancestral percussion with the electronic wizardry of producer Oscar Alford. Based in the capital but originally from the north of the country (Palenque and Barranquilla), the two friends blend Afro-Colombian champeta rhythms with those of hip-hop, electro or reggaeton.
