Iceage arrive at Chalk in Brighton on February 25, 2027, carrying the restless momentum of a band that’s never stayed put. Over the years they’ve treated collapse not as a theme to decorate the songs, but as a way of playing them: tense, sharp, always on the verge of tipping over, then catching the fall at the last second. On their sixth album, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter, that pressure is still there, but it’s lit differently. Romance and desire, long used as a kind of resistance in their writing, comes through cleaner and more open, without losing the grit.
Since forming in Copenhagen in 2008, the quartet have kept reshaping their post-punk core: the early, abrasive rush of New Brigade, the tightened punch of You’re Nothing, then the wider, more melodic and world-worn swing that settled in across Plowing Into the Field of Love, Beyondless and Seek Shelter. Expect a set that moves fast between jagged urgency and bigger, clearer songs, with that physical, mutating edge that makes Iceage feel alive on stage.
