Info
On 21 November 2026 in Bedford, corto.alto brings Liam Shortall’s Glasgow-born project to the stage, sitting right where contemporary jazz meets club energy. Built around his multi-instrumental approach, the set moves fast between tight ensemble writing, open improvisation and electronic production, with brass lines locking into beats and bass-heavy grooves.
After the debut album Bad With Names and its Mercury Prize nomination in 2024, corto.alto has turned into a live outfit made for rooms that like things physical and detailed at the same time: hip-hop swing, soul and funk touchstones, and a love of electronic music culture without dropping the jazz conversation. Expect shifting textures, punchy rhythms and that collective feel where each part can take the lead, then snap back into the pocket.
