Behind the name is Liam Shortall, a Glasgow-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer whose music slips between improvisation and electronic production without ever losing the groove. Brass lines rub up against punchy beats; jazz language meets club logic, with detours through hip-hop, soul and funk.
Since the release of his debut album Bad With Names and its 2024 Mercury Music Prize nomination, he’s taken this hybrid approach on the road relentlessly, sharpening the balance between tight, crafted compositions and the freedom of the band in the moment.
