Info
On 20 November 2026, corto.alto lands at O2 Academy Oxford with the kind of modern jazz show that doesn’t sit still. Led by Scottish composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Liam Shortall, the Glasgow project moves in the grey zone between concert and club: live horns pushing and pulling against heavyweight beats, improvisation rubbing up on tight electronic production, and grooves that borrow as much from hip-hop and soul as from jazz tradition.
Expect a set built on dense, organic compositions where the collective energy matters as much as the solos. corto.alto’s sound is about conversation: brass lines that snap and swirl, rhythms that lock like a DJ’s blend, and textures that keep shifting without losing the thread. It’s a night for anyone into the current UK wave of hybrid jazz, but with a voice that stays its own.
