For the 20th time, the Euroblast Festival brings Progressive Sounds to Cologne: From September 25 to 27, 2026, the Essigfabrik will be all about bands who understand complexity not as an end in itself, but as an adventure.
Haken arrive with their blend of prog metal and prog rock, where tempo changes, melodic vocals, and prominent keys are as natural as long, tension-filled arcs. From 'Aquarius' and 'Visions' to 'The Mountain' and 'Fauna', the London-based band has shown how to pour technical finesse into songs that tell stories and linger.
The Dear Hunter, led by Casey Crescenzo, bridge the gap between art rock, indie, and orchestrated arrangements. Their conceptual 'Act' series and later worlds such as 'Antimai' turn the live set into a musical story, with pop structures, chamber moments, and sudden dynamic shifts.
In addition, worlds collide: Swallow the Sun with melancholic death-doom and the alternation between growls and clean singing, Vildhjarta with 'thall'-type polyrhythms and dark atmosphere, Agent Fresco between math-rock edges and grand melody, Einar Solberg solo with voice, piano and electronic textures, as well as Iotunn and Anciients with narrative, riff-heavy prog metal.
